I find it very compelling how Boudica's appearance here mimics the changes during her ascensions, but in reverse. It's like watching her "descend" into depravity and madness. She starts off with her long haired, fully clothed version, then her hair is cut to mimic the 2nd ascension, then she's stripped to her the default form. I do think it would have been more symbolic if her clothes had gradually gotten torn and fallen during the whipping instead of being stripped in 1 panel.
