Now I'm confused about world building. Apparently if a Jewel Maiden is taken to the Demon World then their Jewel leaves them to seek out another maiden. That means the former Jewel Maidens lose their powers right? If they lose their powers, why do the Demons target the Jewel Maidens for breeding? Can't they take any random female?

My honest impression is that the jewels are from the demon world in the first place, and their actual purpose to pick out prime breeding stock for the demons. Once a girl gets brought back for eternal breeding, the jewel has finished its current task.

If anything, I'd expect a reveal that there are hundreds of presumed deceased jewel maidens already imprisoned in the demon world.

@Belkezar Hmm.... that's a pretty reasonable deduction. The underlying theme of these kinds of works is that the world is already corrupt/fallen and taken over from behind the scenes. Hence what looks like gross incompetence by the human side from the outside is actually according to their enemy's plans. There was something like that in Fan no Hitori's JK Exorcism club series too. In that world only females could safely adapt to gain powers, or so it was believed. The hidden side was that while almost all males would die when they got infected by some demon power, some would mutate into super demons with incomparable powers. These few would become the true power behind the world's "anti demon" institutions and create a status quo where female exorcists were sabotaged.

In the context of this world, it's heavily hinted that the Jewel Powers themselves are suspect, and demons seem to all believe that the Jewel Maidens are their perfect breeding tools. If this was a one off thing why would they all come to this conclusion?
