I always find it inorganic when a character refers to someone using they/them pronouns in their own minds. Like, you're definitely going to guess, even if you don't say it out loud. Then when the people on the train are also exclaiming using they/them about a guy they don't know and have never seen, who looks like a guy, and only has a dick and balls, it's like, come on, man.

Like I'd understand if it was like "Oh shit, it's _______, famous non-binary squid!" (which is still weird), so it would have already been established well in advance that these were the correct pronouns to use. This just screams "Everything on the character sheet is known universally without any misunderstandings or explanations."

Whenever literally no one misgenders some "literal who?" in a story, all characters immediately lose their individuality and just become "the author's fear".

I'm probably overthinking it. At least the futa is hot.
