It's easy to understand :) Good story after all...
Basicly she is a girl... but born as a boy and wanted to commit suicide <.< 2/3/7 floors is his "theory" to calculate to get a painless death or less -> lose all memories. (but basically he wanted to die -> reborn as a normal girl). But in the end, he failed but found faith in humanity :D

Then I read page seven and realized what it was about.
Now it's probably my favorite of their works.

I find I enjoy Dowman Sayman's stuff most when I don't try to over-analyze it.

It's exactly what it seems to be, it's just that what it seems to be is generally very surreal.

I think the key to why I like it so much is that it's surrealism wrapped around a familiar emotional core, which makes it both novel and fun.

She's trying to give herself amnesia because she hates her life, but not enough to kill herself. Her mother thinks she's a reincarnation of one of the Columbine killers because she was born on the day they died, which fits in with reincarnation beliefs in the real world. I think her mother didn't like her. She loved her father, who also loved her, but he died recently, and has been depressed ever since. She tried to give chocaltes to a boy, who thought she was also a boy, hurting her self-image. At the end, she fails to get amnesia, but sees the invitation as a new life, since things finally start looking up for her. How did none of you get any of that?

Like jacksonville said, the thing about Dowman Sayman's works is that either you understand it, or you're just not crazy enough yet. Yet.

I like to say I'm healthily insane enough to understand and appreciate his works, although you really don't have to be to get that last part.

@jacksonville It kind of reminds me of the Q-ko Chan manga. The artwork almost looks similar and the people that made the manga are the makers of Fooly Cooly/Furi Kuri.

Jeez, you guys. This isn't hard, in fact, it's incredibly simple. The meaning is pretty much spelled out for you. The main character is a guy in girls' clothing. It's not stated whether s/he's transgender, but from the final "memory" we can assume s/he is attracted to guys, so it might be a safe bet. She uses the stool so that she is 2 and 3/7 floors above ground, a height she believes will cause her to lose her memories and allow her to live a new life. Each time she falls, she remembers something from her past, such as her first memory being images of the Columbine shooting, that her father loved her and accepted her, but died of a stroke, and that she tried to give a guy valentines chocolates, but he turned her down because of her body.

The final pages are a girl from her school finding her on the ground and inviting her to eat lunch with the girl and her friends.
