@imercenary Right, it mostly is the balance of how well fed the female is at the time of mating and how under stress she is. What folks often forget is that the eating of the male post-mating is because the female NEEDS food to be able to produce offspring and after the male mates in many species, they can tend to die off with only some species of insects having males that ever mate more than once in their short lives.
