The ending is very much like the torch song emotional scene in God Eater episode 10 at the 21 minute 49 seconds mark. Spoiler Alert for God Eater anime.
That torch song event is preceded by a dark and tragic set of misfortunes followed by the torch song moment with the girl having her last thoughts of a happy ending on screen (as her life bleeds out off screen).
