"Chai" refers to a sort of tea, it seems. On page 5 he uses an intentionally bad pun to correct his answer by combining "just kidding" with "it's tea".
So he basically says something like "just kidd-TEA-ng" (in Japanese: "Nanchatte" -> "NanchaTEA").

Also, I'm pretty sure the title "KawaMasu" is a reference to "AiMasu" which is Japanese shorthand for "Idolmaster".
