This game is set in the near future where a new ice age was approaching and the entire world decided to fight over resources and territory in hopes of surviving it better.
This fighting eventually turned so violent that special nanomachines were used to reanimate corpses, the ones employing this technique and controlling them were called Necromancers.

Special anti-undead squads of soldiers were also formed to deal with all the undead, using special equipment like a supercomputer helmet that analyses the current situation and gives the user hints on how they should react.

All the fighting proved of little worth and most of humanity had to retreat into a few big cities like tokyo to survive. The outside world turns into mostly frozen uncharted wasteland. worldwide communication and the internet also more or less break down completly, limiting it to the local area only.

Tokyo manages to survive the ice-age by harnessing newly discovered vulcanic activity below the city to warm all the important districts of the city up using heat-pipes, the city depends on these for survival.

The VN starts in the year 2199, from the viewpoint of Nagaoka Souun, the son of a brilliant undead-hunter who died years ago.

He makes his living by killing Undead revived by random gangs and wannabe-necromancers, and everything is more or less going okay. Then hints start appearing that the greatest Necromancer of all time "Milgram" has come to the city.

It's a really great VN.
