@Seviper4 eh, I dunno. While I know little about Tomoko, I could at least venture a guess as to why dudes like her. I couldn't imagine who would like Mineta, or why. The cosplayer in question gave an explanation, but it still baffles me to this day.

@CalTheDrummer dude, I get it, and that’s great and all. But that isn’t gonna stop me from knocking him. Because understand it or not, that doesn’t make Mineta any less of an obnoxious, annoying pain in the ass of a character for me. Relatable or not, the kid is a one note joke. “i’m thE PErvY OnE. THaT’s thE JokE!” Becomes kinda grating when that’s all the character has.

As an aside, I don’t think the tall girl tag works here since it says that it doesn’t apply if the partner in the character is a normal sized person paired up with a midget

People that like Mineta tend to like Tomoko for the overlooked, similar reason of "They're the most down-to-earth, relatable characters in terms of comparing to the lower, admittedly grimier audience of both shows."
I like Tomoko because I see a lot of personality traits in her that I see in me. Same with Mineta.
And with Mineta, he's one of the few characters that has an actually realistic goal for a high-schooler, rather than another part of the mass of characters being heroes solely because it's heroic and for the greater good and all that.

If you like Tomoko and/or Mineta for other reasons, that's fine.
What I'm having trouble with is how people keep knocking the two of them without bothering to understand why I and others like me like them.
