@Orbz indeed, mtl tools aren't bad per se, they are just tools. I tried translating one work a while ago, I used an OCR site to extract the text, and visually checked for errors, then used another site to recognize handwritten kanjis where the ocr had errors

Then I used google translate, deepl and a few others, with varying amounts of text to get multiple results and compare them. I also used rikai-chan (browser plugin that gives you the dictionary entry of a Japanese word when you hover it with your mouse) to get the meaning of individual words when the translation didn't make much sense.

I compared the results with the context and the images to choose the best one, fixed the tense and the vocabulary, identified the proper names, made sure the subject and gender of phrases was correct, and that was it.

I had a full script and was halfway through editing when a real group released it. I compared their translation with mine, it was extremely close. I would even dare say mine was more accurate on a few text bubbles. The cleaning was way harder than the translation.

MTL tools aren't garbage, they are simply tools. The lazy fucks who feed a work in one tool expecting a good result with no effort are.
