For those wondering whether Mikuru actually had a brother, she did... but in a different timeline. Fujiwara (the "sneering bastard" from Sasaki's group) is her younger brother, but their relationship was "lost" when one of the timelines they were in diverged. Fujiwara's goal is to reconstruct the timeline so that the two of them can be a family again.

This is only mentioned in the last volume of the light novels, so it was never brought up in the anime or manga.
