Given the titles are Real Edition and Twisted edition I'm inclined to believe Twisted is a "what if" situation.
Hell if you compare the Uncle in both chapters the one in the picture here is balding and has a comb-over where as the Uncle in the other one has a full head of hair. So they aren't the same uncle and thus not the same character. A small detail like that does matter with a continued story.

Edit: I never said it wasn't, but think about the "what if" concept, wouldn't you leave a detail to aid in distinguishing the two such as one character having a different appearance even though they exist in both?
