Y'know actually, it might of been better if she -did- have them amputated. Prosthetic legs are so good now that she'd still be able to walk just fine. If you do a little digging on the net, there's actually a young woman who is a quadruple amputee - and yet, she goes to a day job, drives herself to work, etc. all thanks to her (surprisingly life-like) prosthetic limbs. How she figured out how to manage putting them on in the morning is beyond me, though.

Tsukino is, without a single doubt, my favorite ShindoL heroine ever. I mean, I can barely read his works because of how unsympathetic his protagonists usualy are; most of all, his girls are just some dumb, hateful bitches.

Hey D u b b y unless it is absolutely necessary to amputate then doctors don't. Life spans are shortened by people with missing limbs. Then again paraplegic's life spans are usually shorter too, but still unless they have to doctors try not to remove limbs the human body gets a little angry about that sometimes.

Well that was romantic! The ending was beautiful! this one was super dark, just the way i like it!
btw i see that ppl here didn't comment on it so i will. That guy jumped at the end so he can join her, donno if his gonna survive but from personal experience, he has the chance to. i ended up with just a broken calcaneous bone on my right foot and that was from 9 meters.

Way late to the party here but, given how necrosis works, once they got the underlying cause of the problem delt with she shouldn't be in pain and there are also way to remove the dead tissue without amputation. They would likely be expensive/time-consuming though.

A good story and beautiful relationship. Something about both characters eyes reminded me of Toradora at first but they quickly distinguished their own personalities. The faces and pubic closeups at the end are just delicious in true ShindoL fashion.
