I've always considered BattleTech to be a derivative of the Macross series (because of the similarity of Mech designs), but I applaud them for going beyond that franchise, especially in the design of WarShips, the introduction of the Houses, and an interesting chronology of historical events.

@Meow_pao You aren't wrong. FASA got permission to use designs from a bunch of animes including Macross, dougram and crusher joe. It is not so much battletech mechs are similar to Macross as it is that some early battletech designs were straight up Macross ones.
I remember the SEGA game, even today in a world ok 4k-HD-60fps most games are not as good as that one.

Jim Holloway was always one of my favourite Battletech artists. Glad to see he is represented in this book.

@meow_pao: same artist who design them, he sell punch of designs that not appear in Marcross to Battle Tech franchise. This is one or reasons that Harmony Gold who is holding right of one of Marcross movie in US (The Super Dimension Fortress Macross) and strip-off Marcross cartoon RoboTech. Thus Harmony Gold launch many series of law suit against any BattleTech franchise due similiar designs (Harmony Gold is got pay from other companies for their BattleTech games can be release), and blocking any Marcross franchises (anime, model kit, game etc...) come to US due license of a Marcross movie, despite Harmony Gold only hold few licenses of few of mech designed in that movies and they think they have right to claim license on what they don't have in other Marcross series and BattleTech.
So as long as you support Harmony Gold, the Marcross and BattleTech franchise still got suffer from the Harmony Gold bastard.
PS: Harmony Gold tried sued Hasbro in 2013 for continue use Jetfire due original Jetfire design that from Takatoku company which Hasbro bought the Valkyrie jet plane design and latter become an icon in Macross franchise so Harmony Gold also think they have right to own Jetfire license but lost in lawsuit.
