1781 on March 13th.,from the garden of his house in Bath, the musician and hobby astronomer William Herschel discovers an object in the sky with a self-build telescope . He initially reported it as a comet. Within three months of its discovery, science finally recognized Herschel's discovery as a new planet.
After a debate that lasted for more than 60 years, the new planet was named Uranus.
Like the classical planets, Uranus is visible to the naked eye under good conditions, but because of its dimness and slow orbit, all previous observers misclassified Uranus as a star.
