@halja While some doujins display the dolls as independent, officially they're just magically controlled dolls, meaning Alice consciously decides their every action. She's very skilled at controlling them, even being able to make them speak or control other dolls, but she's only pretending that they are alive or have their own agency. She does want to make a fully autonomous doll, but hasn't yet achieved that (according to Perfect Memento in Strict Sense). She did create a "Semi-Automaton Doll" to use in the second fighting game, but that name suggests it's merely self-moving, rather than capable of personal agency.
