I vote for using the same names as the tags, so the English names

I find English easier simply because there are a ton of Pokemon human characters, and I don't know all of their Japanese names. For example, the only character here whose Japanese name I know is May, the other two don't appear anywhere near as frequently in the franchise (or doujin), so I have no real reason to keep track of their names.
I tend to think most people don't know ALL of the Japanese names because the English ones are the ones they're exposed to more frequently.
But in the end it is the translator's decision, so maybe you should base it on which version you're most familiar with, or which is easier to work with.
