He becomes popular (sorta) and getting better offers. "Artwork only" offer from random comic/cg group is considered VERY low and unprofessional job for an artist.
They pay fixed money per page/picture instead of percentage cut (zero incentive regardless of sales). Often they abandon the whole project in the middle, in many cases artist don't get paid at all. Too much work for small income compared to drawing comics for a real magazine publisher or cover illust for ASMR stuff (duh).
He has his own group too where he can earn all the money except dlsite takes 30% cut. No wonder doskoinpo discontinued participating in this series, no drama required.

Note: A lot of comic/cg groups are branched out version of established eroge company/circle, they are not what I called "random group" and they offer somewhat decent prices (e.g. Technomics originates from Courreges. Lyricbox is in the same organisation as Lose.

What namaemoi said, but also I think doskoinpo tends to want to challenge himself by doing things he hasn't done before. Going from stories, to illustrated stories, to art/CG sets and short manga and short animations, to commercial illustrated stories and CG sets, to commissioned eroge art and (eventually, after a delay) longer animations, to commissioned voice work cover art, to participating in doujin manga anthologies, to writing the script for a voice work with assistance for production, to commissioned manga like this one, to focusing more on self-published manga, to eventually (he hopes) making his own eroge. (It's true that as he expands his network and hones his skills, he receives more frequent and lucrative offers, but I'm not sure how important maximizing his income in the short-term is, to him. He was a grad student when he started out, so I expect that he could have graduated and found a job by now. Just my guesses.)
