I just glanced at it, but this novel looks like it's written at about a fifth grade reading level.
If you started learning Japanese today, and we assume that it takes you the same four hours that it took me to brute force memorize hiragana and katakana using Usagi-chan, skim the Wikipedia article on Japanese grammar, and learn how to use a Japanese-English dictionary, you could very well start reading this book TODAY, albiet at a pace of roughly one page per hour. (Links below.)
If you read the book for an hour a day, every day, you would likely finish in about three to four months, which is still probably earlier than it is going to be translated. You would also be bilingual at the end of it and could read any untranslated doujin or manga or VN or LN or anime you wanted. Japanese is a relatively easy language, the only hard part is memorizing kanji.

It'd take a bit more than reading a single light novel volume to become anywhere near fluent in Japanese. I've read lots of web novels with the help of a kanji dictionary (I use https://jisho.org/), and I also have some proper studies under my belt, but I'm still nowhere near fluent. Memorizing kanji is just that much work, and aside from basic grammar, there's a lot of more advanced stuff that isn't easy to grasp. Still, it's definitely worthwhile if you're interested in learning the language, it's good practise to support some actual studies. I'm just not sure this is the most interesting novel you could pick up for that purpose...
