You'd think it would be something simple to figure out I mean every other Disk-based thing has the Lable up. I mean yeah it's in a shell but if you actually look at it and its parts it's obvious!

That's a hell of an assumption, even in IT.
Most people find out when either the disk fails to go in, or it otherwise doesn't work. Just human nature.
