Do you know those fast food commercials where the burgers look absolutely perfect in every way; then you get the real thing and it is a soggy, misshapen, mess?

This is the commercial and the real furry orgy is the soggy misshapen mess.

@Zeikfried I think the suspension of disbelief left through the door with the cartoon anthropomorphic animals...

I still don't understand how this guy rakes in thousands of dollars with one piece of art. His art is alright but far from amazing (especially not for the money), it's wax looking figurines with many anatomy mistakes, and if you tell him or correct him by giving some pointers he just blocks you or gets his fanbase to basically harass you... His older art used to look better.

In regards to pricing it's the law of supply and demand. He is at the end of the day, only one man and there are likely many people who want his art. So he sets a price such that the number who can afford it is a number of persons he can reasonably fulfill, which means he regularly gets clients who can spend thousands.

Art is not a market like others, though (actually, very few industries in the world actually follow that "rule"). Any moderately competent artist has more people lining up to commission them than they have time to fulfill, but the majority of them set up slots and queues; if everyone went the Miles route the whole internet furry artist market would very much become inhospitable to most of the current producers and consumers, it would lead to either a crash or would the whole scene would die out.
