Has anyone besides me noticed that we never actually see Aang penetrate Katara in any of these pages? Zutara got a massive push from the lead writer and his wife (his wife wrote Zuko Alone and The Southern Raiders among others) and they were big into Zutara. It was their imagined endgame ship. Bryke had to step in and lay it out that Anng and Katara were the endgame pairing no matter what. Which is part of the reason why the head writer of Avatar didn't return for Korra. So, basically, Zutara has some weird drama behind and part of it boils down to who you think should have final say on the writing process. The directors or the writers.

Well, that tells who behind the scenes wanted it, but that doesn’t really tell me what makes it appealing.

Admittedly, I was pro-Kataang from the beginning, but when the fiasco surrounding Korrasami being made canon happened, my eyes were opened to just how bad the pro and anti sides of a ship can get, as well as how overall toxic the shipping community has gotten. As such, shipping is officially dead for me, and has been so for the last few years, and I don’t wear shipping goggles anymore whenever I read or watch anything.

Just to be clear, I don’t deny others the right to ship if they want to, just be careful with how invested you get in a fictional romance, and don’t ask me to be in on it.
