@private wolfbane i agree, force awakens while it did rehash new hope it set up some interesting things. Rian Johnson completely ignored any set up that was from the first movie. He is a good director when he is doing his own thing and wanted to make it his own. But you cant do that with an established franchise and characters, at best you get a bad movie and at worst its a high budget fanfic. The biggest problem is i feel they had no plan for the trilogy and just made it up as they went along. Thinking fans would watch it just because it had the star wrs name. What they should have done if the wanted to distance themselves from the original movies is set it in the future or gone with the old republic.

@dudex Your right its about telling a story which the squeals did badly but that doesn't mean we have to hate everything about it. I mean can you imagine hating on something just because it came from the prequels clone wars was dope movies were lack luster but we still got a kickass show. The new trilogy wanted to try something new but they did it by erasing years of cannon legends was the perfect place get a new villain but they brought back palp which they did do in legends but they gave us new villains like Abeloth but they went backwards instead of forwards the kylo rey romance wasn't the worst part of the movie the worst part was the fetch quest style story and having to correct everything rian Johnson ruined i feel like if JJ had run of the whole trilogy we would have at least gotten a coherent plot hell i liked force awakens for everything it set up for us but last jedi threw all that out the window like windu so Rise of skywalker had to play doctor with the story
