Played this game and while it's pretty damn hot, the ending is, unsurprisingly, grimdark and depressing. I don't really know what I was expecting for something from WH40K.

Call me dumb or whatever, but can anyone be kind enough to explain the ending for me? I am not familiar with warhammer40k, so I was pretty confused by the end of the game. What happened to the attack? Did everyone died except the main character? Why was he seemingly struggling to remember things?

As someone who's vaguely familiar with 40k lore, pretty sure they all died soon after the start of the Ending, and this is just his wandering soul finding itself in the local Warpspace. That's why he found himself at the pier, but there wasn't much else around him, as well as the ever-present fog, lack of combat throughout the boat ride, and the eye-less maddened bloodied procession carrying Sister bodies.

It's a very 40k ending, and a massive tonal whiplash that made the post-nut clarity hit different. I was definitely expecting him to have like at least a 5-Sister orgy or something, which is a bit of a shame, but that would've made the whole thing less of a 40k-themed end to the few hours of this game's worth. Shame that some of the images weren't moving, which would've improved the whole experience.
