Nah, I'm sure this series would actually make H.P. Lovecraft spin around in his grave hard enough to be able to be harnessed as a clean source of power. Pretty funny how Japan manages to turn something as horrifying and despair-inducing as the Cthulthu Mythos completely inside out.

Still, it is rather cute.

As a fan of Lovecraft, I think he would be at least begrudgingly content with how they created some characters that "seem" human but also seem alien...perhaps maliciously or just for fun. The anime IMO still conveys that you never know what they will do and the idea that they are powerful in ways beyond what a human can imagine. It DEFINITELY is a parody though...not a true rendition of his mythos. It also made me realize that I would like to see what fucking an elder god feels like...never thought I'd say that.
