Iowa to Los Angeles. Isn’t that clichéd? Yes, it is. Part of Kelly felt uncomfortable in the big city. She missed the wide open spaces, the fresh air. The carelessness with which she could ride a bicycle. Friends who could take her for a ride and it would be on a horseback.
Part of her felt very comfortable. Not getting looks for her mixed ethnicity. Flirting without everybody in the county knowing it the day afterwards. And, increasingly, she found it flattering when lesbians or bi-girls made compliments to her. She wasn’t inclined to date them, however. Oh, and she never missed the freezing cold in winter.
She also loved her work. She found it very rewarding to help people with problems to get her life back into order. She loved to lead that way physically and mentally at the same time through Yoga. It was funny how one of the people there, as unlikely as anyone, would become her friend. Then her best friend. Then her flatmate. Then her lover. In the end, her wife. With hindsight, each step was logical and natural. Today she knows that she didn’t realize when she fell in love with Izabelle. It was the day when they met.
