to arkot: It might be because they want to portray Alice as younger. Which is stupid since the Alice in Alice Madness returns is in her mid to late teens (about 15 to 17 I think).

My guess is, they want Ran to replace Rin. Rin is getting old. She is over 30. I'm not very sure, but the reason why they chopp her face could be to make her look like Rin. She really looks a bit like her. Just a thought, nothing official.
