Ha-Young marked the moral degeneration of the protagonist, the Sung-ki had serious intentions with her, when she let go and had him forget everything that was between them, he then started to bump into sex invitations that lay ahead Began to see women as sources of lust that no one likes.
He was disillusioned, the girl he loved broke his heart and he only met with fdp woman, that made him think differently about women and their worldview. Maybe he even wants a serious relationship but does not believe he will have one and his heart will be broken if he tries, he does not like anyone else and only seeks sex, that the only thing women can give is sexual pleasure.
It may be that the author uses the new character to restore faith in Subg-Ki's love.
The author will use Ha-Young's betrayal with her ex-boyfriend so that the Sung-Ki break up with her and dating the new girl.
Ha-Young betrayal was obvious though, since she never loved him: she chose random playboys twice and then came back to him when she understood the other guys didn't care about her (but it took her two times, god damn it she really didn't want the mc even as a side dishe).
Why Sung-ki still accepted her afterward is beyond me (without even reproaching anything to her, acting like a carpet, a convenient dog). He must be aware tha t he's just a replacement, it's too obvious to not be noticed. So of course he will be betrayed, hey this is Ha-Young, the capricious bitch who likes to imagine she never do anything wrong, she was born to make him hate women.

@Johannessilentio, I agree. She basically was using him as a backup. She's what some call an alpha widow. She basically settled for the MC, but clearly wasn't as much sexually attracted to him as she was to the other guy(s) she had before. Plus he should not have started dating her in the first place considering her behavior in the beginning. The red flags were there, but he ignored them. However, that doesn't excuse his own behavior, of course.

Ha-Young is 100x worse that Sung-Ki because of what happened in the first seasons, MC changed after that and it's her + douche fault (though she'll never realize it since he didn't even reproch anything to her). MC was a fool to come back to her, she always chose other guys as soon as she had a choice, he was "back up boyfriend" and she manipulated him as usual.
Three differences to summarize why Ah-Young is lower than trash:
- She dumps MC for money, going as far showing him the lingerie the other guy bought her. What's more, to come back to the guy that treated her like shit and made a fool of her twice (soon thrice).
- With all the shit she did before they properly got together, she proved that she'll always betray MC. After being cucked three times, I hope he'll forget that whore.
- She never loved MC, he was back up. After losing two boyfriends, alone, and seeing that even her faithful dog (mc) was looking elsewhere, she got insecure and dated MC. That's it. Actually, maybe MC was fucking random girls to destroy everything himself since he knew from the start she would betray him again.

I really liked this webtoon. I read it all at once.

So here some additional comments:
TBH, the protagonist was an idiot. But this webtoon kind of shows how one becomes more mature and learns from experiences (good and bad). Everybody had distinct personalities. Of course it was at times random and way too unrealistic (in terms of who stumps into each other at just the right time), but I would say to some extend this represents reality (to coincidents).
Ha-Young was the really beautiful (maybe fragile) bitch. (She was pretty boring in my opinion.) The red/brown haired dude was pretty cool (I liked his honesty), though being an asshole... well he was still cool. And the crazy girl ah-ho (or sth like that) and the teacher where the coolest/craziest. I think the ex from the protagonist and the girl with the huge boobs would have been the best choices. (they were both quite intelligent/experienced) I think that the huge boobs girl was meant to be the really girlfriend here.

To all who think that the script is stupid etc... why did you read that far + giving it so much thought?
